Forget about love?

Hi beloved of GOD.

If you want to see Jesus smile at you...

Then I want to share this with you quickly.

Because,

I reflect on it almost every day. And honestly it never fails to make me happy. So I hope it encourages you too.

Anyhow,

'Love' can seem tricky at times eh?

The vast, wonderful, raw...

• Emotion

• Feeling

• Power

Of love,

Is all so big.

And sometimes maybe even a tad confusing?

For instance.

Think of the question Jesus had to reframe three times for Peter...

"Simon, son of John, do you love me?"

John 21:17 ESV

So after all that…

How do we love God?

Well,

Let’s park that thought just now.

And start far simpler.

Instead how about this...

Do you like Him?

'Like' as in…

Enjoy Him? Like Him.

Just God.

Do you actually… like… Jesus?

(Not love Him. Only like).

Like.

As in…

Do you want to be with Him?

Kick about as best pals together?

Perhaps...

The same way good friends go hiking a dusty trail together. Shooting the breeze. Laughing. Joking. Listening.

Opening up to each other.

So as I say…

Forget love.

Just...

Like Him.

That’s were you start.

It's where the disciples started.

They 'kind of' liked Him at first. But they didn't know Him.

So they got to know Him little by little.

And day by day they warmed to Him a little more.

It was only later they learned what true love was. Then much later they fell in love with Him. (How could they not!)

So think on that.

And be brave and ask...

“Do I actually... like you... LORD?”

Then ask deeper still,

Does He like you?

Of course, He loves you.

And yes, He poured out His life to save you.

And you are saved. You are safe.

Yet...

We all know families eh? We love them, but here is the truth... we spend our time most with those we LIKE don't we?

With that in mind...

Put yourself in Jesus shoes.

If you wanted a friend to spend all eternity with… would it be you?

GOD is love.

The beginning and end of it.

And this GOD is the Father of Jesus.

But strangely, somehow...

Jesus is also the Father.

Yes, He is God...

Only ‘not invisible'.

Either way...

I like Him.
