Hello beloved.
You don’t have to shout for miracles. Or plead for power.
In fact, the opposite. Jesus loves setting captives free.
He's happy to heal if we let Him to do things His way.
For instance…
One day driving into the publicity office I was stressing.
Juggling two full time jobs for a Christian Ministry I had way too much on my plate.
And,
As I drove I asked the LORD for grace because I was fretting. I needed to know how our team should lead staff worship next morning.
(Every Tuesday this organisation held a morning service for thirty or so staff in their English HQ. Week by week, each department led these internal meetings in turn).
And so it came to pass, our turn duly arrived.
Well.
Turning up the leafy estate lane to the big country house... the Holy Spirit dropped into my heart the whole meeting schedule.
Super helpful...
“Wow, thank you LORD! I love it, er… but are you sure? I don’t think anyone has ever done what you suggest LORD in these type of meetings before?
Either way it’s fine with me though. Amen.”
Anyway…
A few moments later in the office our team got it instantly.
Big smiles all round :)
And so,
We scratched out the order of service…
Dept Mgr (D) welcome. Announce mornings theme... 'Divine Washing’ (2 mins).
(Y) opening prayer. (3 mins).
Worship leader (P) leads congregation. Three songs in uplifting, adoring praise. (Y) on guitar (15 mins).
(A) dances (ballet style) before the LORD. Gentle guitar accompaniment (Y) (5 mins).
(P) & (D) Bible reading. Then announce opportunity for ‘prayer ministry’ during 'washing' section (2 mins).
The ‘washing’ and prayer (15-20 mins as required).
So next morning,
We kicked off the meeting.
Kind of slow at first tbh…
Somewhat bleary eyed, weary staff trying to rouse themselves to sing with a bit more gusto. You know how it can be ;)
Yet before we knew it…
A few moments later, the atmosphere totally changed. Suddenly our hall hummed and swirled with a palpable sense of the presence of Jesus.
How come?
The dance my friend…
(A) was a brilliant (and holy) dancer.
And when she started dancing, wow!
An holy hush fell on all of us.
Because though she danced,
We were not seeing her...
Her dance was lifting us directly into GOD’s presence. She was dancing for GOD alone.
Gentle. Holy. Very powerful.
And then...
Wow. Wow. Wow!
We announced the bit no one was expecting.
After reading the scripture we said...
“Brothers and sister there is no sermon this morning…
Because…
We are going to do what Jesus asked us to do when we prepared earlier. Instead the LORD wants ‘a practical sermon’ of His great love…
Based on the Bible passage you just heard.
And as you already can feel.
He is here.
And wonderful news...
He wants to HEAL you… today.
If that is you let Him minister to you.
Anyway,
He has asked us to wash your feet.
So if you’ll allow us...
It is our privilege to serve you like this (we can pray with you too if you wish). If you don’t that’s fine as well. We will just move to the person next to you.
And we will wash their feet instead.
So the team picked up the buckets and towels (previously tucked away out of sight) and starting washing peoples feet.
Then,
All of a sudden.
Staff just started bursting out crying all over the hall… weeping. Sobbing all over the place. Feet being washed. Praying going up. Prayer. Prayer. Prayer. Wash. Wash. Next!
Faces covered in tears. No shame. Only grace.
And so the meeting zipped along wonderfully...
Later some reported they'd been healed physically (nothing major really). Others though were released from deep rooted traumas. Others, deliverance from evil spirits.
Well,
How about that!
Folk slumped over in their chairs.
Others lay prostrate on the floor, people praying for them.
Still others knelt before the LORD weeping quietly.
The meeting ended up running way over of course.
Yet, Jesus turned up as He'd promised.
And all the glory is His.
This was the biggie though...
One lady who ran a department. (An amazing woman)... got so overwhelmed by the presence of GOD that...
Get this.
She did not leave the hall until TWO DAYS LATER.
That’s right she did not leave the hall until about 11:00am two days later on the Thursday!
Yup,
She was so under the power of GOD that she simply could not get out of her chair. She received huge deliverance and inner healing.
Beyond washing her feet and some initial prayer, the publicity team had almost nothing to do with it.
Why?
Our team had regular work to do. So we went back to the office and got on with it.
Meantime...
A couple of leadership personnel and prayer partners took shifts ministering to her. Over fifty five hours of continuous prayer. They pressed in and got her the victory! Kudos to them!
Cool eh? Anyway,
A week later I bumped into her in the corridor...
“Dave! What on earth did your team do to me!
The LORD totally took that meeting over. It was incredible!
I couldn’t believe what happened when my feet went into the water and (A) started gently washing me. As soon as she started washing my feet, that was it! I began crying and couldn’t stop. Then Jesus started healing me...
Not sure, I’ll be in the next meeting though.
I lost three days of work!"
Yes she did.
However in return she received something way better.
Peace of mind.
And a powerful deliverance.
Praise the LORD forever.
Later...
As I pondered what Jesus did I was very thankful.
Yet I also felt sad though.
Why?
Because when the Spirit of GOD started moving that morning...
Some folk literally RAN out the meeting.
They wouldn’t take their shoes off.
Nor let anyone wash them.
Nor be vulnerable,
So sad.
"Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me… “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”
John 13: 8,10. NJKV
So beloved of GOD.
Will you let Jesus wash you?
If so, it’s 100% guaranteed you will be blessed.
Yet even more so… if you wash the feet of your brothers and sisters too.
Seriously.
Try it.
Washing saints feet is a hidden sacramental gem packed with power.
"If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them."
John 13: 17 NKJV
Speak soon.
Bless you.
Dave.
