Hi overcomer.
Just picturing you joyfully stepping up into your chariot of destiny.
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
Proverbs 4:18 ESV
And I pray your week is shaping up well like this.
Though if it looks the opposite,
Don’t worry.
Right in the midst of trial or trouble, the LORD always has grip of our hand. He will comfort us. He will speak. And will without fail rescue us when we need it.
He loves us after all :)
That said.
It’s one thing GOD speaking.
Sometimes though,
We miss the light He shines on our way to help us.
So what’s the remedy?
This may help...
A few evenings ago,
My wife and I were watching a TV comedy about a young Indian coming over to London during the seventies.
It all began cheerily enough and we were enjoying it.
However our chuckles were soon cut short. For the hero fell among villains at a card table. They too were Indian, but most cunning.
And this young man, naive as heck…
Was like a lamb to the slaughter in their midst.
Anyway,
As soon as he sat down to play cards I said to my wife…
“Turn it over please. This is too upsetting for me.
It hurts too much.
He’s going to get totally fleeced. And chances are either end up ruined and disgraced… or worse still… be turned into one of them.”
Weird overreaction eh?
Yet it upset me.
A lot.
Because…
The young guy reminded me so much of me… because of my past naivety.
For here’s the truth. People in my past took advantage of me because I was gullible.
So I’ve been fleeced.
A lot.
Which honestly, makes me feel very foolish.
And still hurts even now.
Now to my point.
As I watched the show this bombshell tripped off my lips next...
“I just TRUST EVERYONE I MEET. I just take them as they are… I always believe what they say they are. I just take them on face value.”
After I spoke these words, they just hung in the air. Which thankfully is when the LORD revealed what I'd just activated in the spiritual realm.
And it became super clear.
Because sadly,
In the past I'd always held this sort of 'trust everyone, accept all' attitude almost like a badge of spiritual honour. As if by doing so I was following the scriptures by not judging people etc.
Yet I was wrong.
Because Jesus didn't trust people did He?
No. He loved them yes. Trusted them?
Nope…
"Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men...
For he himself knew what was in man."
John 2:24-25b ESV
This time though, the Lord opened my eyes.
And I saw what had quietly been working against me for years...
For,
By establishing these words (I had said them OUT LOUD quite often over decades)… by doing so I opened a door in the spirit to the adversary without realising.
In essence.
I'd set up,
A big fat 'Welcome' sign.
For vagabonds. Robbers. Liars. Cheats.
To come take advantage of me.
How so?
Well, I'd revealed the conditions they needed to meet to do just that.
By stating out loud, that I would always...
TRUST EVERYONE I MET.
Take new people on FACE VALUE.
(Even if their face value was a lying act etc).
The devils loved me saying that.
And thereby ensured a steady stream of crooks kept coming across my path.
For years!
Crooks I'd get suckered in by.
So,
As I thought on what LORD had just revealed... loads of occasions came to mind where I’d been ripped off, hundreds, even thousands. Yuk!
Strangers I'd met—scammed me after I offered to help them.
Rip off business deals—lost more than I ever care to admit.
The latest one was a rogue travel agent this summer—Slick operator claimed he was a ‘Christian' after realising I was one.
This revelation has one last bit to it though.
As soon as we realised the Lord had spoken... (from right under my nose too) my wife and I prayed briefly about it.
Yet we both also knew,
The problem was ancestral and needed more attention. Because, this issue had also affected our families past generations who'd been ripped off too.
Our wider family even lost a huge inheritance of property and land in the Punjab due to a 'rogue uncle' who took the lot.
So I knew I had to pray more deeply into this.
Yet next day... I plumb forgot about it!
Sigh.
Only to find that very evening my son had just been ripped off.
Rogue removal men scammed him. After taking his money they went round the corner, dumped everything in the street and disappeared into the night.
Which means.
When fresh on my mind, I should have immediately broken that 'ancestral gullibility' chain of command down the family lines the evening before.
If I had, it's probable my son could have been spared what happened to him because it was such a clear "Do this now son' word from Jesus.
Sometimes the LORD says,
Deal with this... now.
“When the time came, I listened to you, and when you needed help, I came to save you.”
That time has come. This is the day for you to be saved." *
2 Corinthians 6:2-3 CEV.
So overcomer.
Salvation is also about protecting you. Delivering you from loss. Saving you.
May the LORD always rescue you from those sent to plunder you.
And light your path with His warm, loving grace.
"The spirit of a person is the lamp of the Lord. It lights up what is deep down inside them."
Proverbs 20: 27 NIRV
Only GOD knows what is deep in us.
Yet it appears on our lips, often just as we need it.
Often.
Bless you,
Dave.
PS* Did you notice the correlation between the 'light of dawn' and 'the full light of day' as you travel your path to destiny?
No accident eh ;)
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
Which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
Proverbs 4:18 ESV
Thank you for sharing!!!
I learned a rule - never let your Godly attributes be used against you for evil. It is easier said than done. However, we must not forget Romans 8:28! "ALL Things work together for good..." We live and move in eternity. There are judgments coming! Those who mistreated you were given a choice - to do what is godly for you, or to take a path which leads to destruction. This requires the presence of you or someone like you. Like God told Samuel - they have not rejected you, they have rejected ME!
